    • I like oldies type music and eating out at restaurants occasionally. I have 4 adult kids, 9 grand kids, and 1 great grand kid. But, I live alone and I'm interesting in friendship only here on Tagged unless one lives within 50 miles, then I may consider dating and more... I just thank God for the way he made me. There is snow on the mountain, but some fire still burns in the furnace.

    • DIABETES HELPFUL HINTS: Diabetics should read labels. Carbohydrates are really what determine ones blood sugar level. Meats and fats without anything added like flour, meal, sauces, or gravy don’t contain carbohydrates. Leafy vegetables and others like green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, and sweet peas average around 15g per 1/2 cup. It is the high starch carbohydrates like bread, rice, potatoes, pasta, and artificial sweets that need to be very limited. Meats and Fats alone won’t drive blood sugar level up, but fats will keep it up and make it very hard to get down. That can be a problem for a diabetic. 95 percent of the strokes and the need for people to go on kidney dialysis could be prevented if people have home testers and regularly monitored their blood pressure and sugar level. A combination of Chromium tablets and cinnamon capsules per meal will definitely help lower blood sugar big time. --------PROBIOTICS: I first tried acidophilus over 35 years ago. Now older with more digestive problems I’m back on it along with vitamin D-3. Much more has been learned about gut bacteria and the conclusion is moderation is the key not low carbohydrates.     • The first thing is there may be times when nothing will bring sleep. As a last resort when sleep just won’t come here is a technique that has rescued me many times. I try to physically keep my eyes wide open and never let them close, not even for a second.

    • My carpal tunnel and arthritis was making my life pure hell, now, taking vitamin B-6 allows me peace of mind. However, I don’t ever take over 300mg daily of B-6 because it may cause nerve problems. I have taken 100mg of B-6 daily for over 30 years.

    • To avoid indigestion and acid reflux I add in a small amount of raw shredded cabbage with my food at each meal.

    • The first rule for anyone that have high blood pressure and diabetes is to buy home testers and do self monitoring daily. Salt and sodium are the biggest factors in controlling high blood pressure. I buy the gallon jugs of drinking water with 0 sodium. Also, I buy the little squeeze bottles of fresh lemon juice and drink lemon water as my main beverage, no sugar added for me. I believe some water is loaded with sodium for the same reason as processed foods, be aware. Caffeine raises blood pressure, and when I'm struggling to keep my blood pressure down sometimes I have to remind myself of that fact. Caffeine is in so many foods and drinks I like.

    • My weight losing helpful hint using the “Positive thinking” technique. The definition of the positive thinking technique I’m talking about is: One takes a short saying or quote and repeats it over and over to ones self a minimum of fifty times or more every day. It may take up to six months or more to start feeling strong results. This is the quote I use: "I MUST TO KEEP MY BODY SLIM AND HEALTHY through God who strengthens me". Just leave God off or substitute another deity if one so desires. Lets face it folks, some of us like me are compulsive over eaters; I have suffered with this disorder ever since I was a child. Some of us just simply can’t do it alone, that is why turning to God by saying through God who strengthens me is all-powerful. However, it doesn’t work over night, it takes a while to break through to the subconscious. But, if one stays the course long enough positive results will be realized.     • I have learned that indigestion is all about the enzymes. Food has what is called enzymes that greatly aid the digestion process. Raw food has all of its enzymes, therefore as a rule the more raw food one eats the less digestion problems one will have. Old fashion cooking doesn’t but modern extremely high temperature canning and microwave cooking tends to destroy enzymes. I still microwave leftover meats, but add water and boil leftover vegetables the old fashion way. Reaching for an apple of something else raw instead is my first choice to ease indigestion. Next choice is Papaya Enzyme found in the vitamin section. ABOUT PROBIOTICS: I first tried acidophilus over 20 years ago. Now older with more digestive problems I still try the ALIGN brand sometime and take vitamin D-3 daily.
