Hital Meswani is a Director on the Board of Reliance Industries Ltd, India’s largest private sector company. He joined the Reliance Group in 1990, when it was run by its legendary founder, Dhirubhai Ambani. Since then, he has seen it through several ups and downs, helping the company tide over when it was divided between the second-generation Ambani tycoons. Today, Meswani continues to be a Reliance-faithful, part of the core team of RIL Chairman, Mukesh Ambani.

Hital Meswani graduated with honors in Management and Technology from the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to earn Bachelor of Science degrees in both chemical engineering and economics.

Hital Meswani is the son of late Rasiklal Meswani, a first cousin of Dhirubhai and one of the Founder-Directors of the company. His brother, Nikhil, is also an important member on Mukesh Ambani’s team. Indian industry often considers this dynamic sibling pair second to only the Ambani brothers. Although preferring to work behind the scenes since the beginning of their tenure, the two have been in the spotlight as RIL spokespersons in recent years.

In 1995, only five years after he joined the Reliance Group, Hital Meswani was made an Executive Director. He handles the onus of the petroleum business and all manufacturing and project-based activities within the corporate house. His responsibilities include managing the company’s complexes in Jamnagar, Patalganga and Hazira. In addition, he serves as the Chairman of both, the Audit Committee of Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings Ltd as well as the Health, Safety and Environment Committee. He is also a committee member responsible for finance and addressing of shareholders’ and investors’ grievances.

In 2003, the ‘Young Achiever Award’ was conferred upon Hital Meswani. Presented by the Indo-American Society, it appreciated his noteworthy contributions towards developing good relations on a people-to-people level between India and the USA.
