I recently rescued a pi mix w/ lab she was used as a training dog has scars on her head form being bit and her teeth were filed down, and the m-f- who did this to her only recieved 3 yrs. She is a GREAT companion and loves my kids and is protective over them and myself, I was wondering when new people or my friends come around how can I get her to relax and know I wont let anybody hurt her? It hurts to see her be such a fierce companion and then turn right around and be scared like that, any suggestions?
time have her around them alot and she will start to ajust i rescued a full blooded pit and she was used to fight she was in really bad shape and hated kids other dogs and wasnt the best around people this was back in april and just this little time she has done a 360 she use to attach my other pit over food and she has even stoped that all aggression she had is gone just work with her.. if u figure out what her fav thing is toys food ect have them use that to get her somewhat comeing around and consitantly doing it over time she will! best of luck any qustions or ne thing feel free to message me!
thank you very much for the advice i will try the ssnacks and food thing because that is one thing she reacts positive to
GREAT ADVICE SWEETNEES TIME LOVE TRUST AND RESPECT WILL HEAL ALL WOUNDS . DOG'S PICK UP ON BODY LANGUAGE FAST MOVEMENTS MIGHT CAUSE A REACTION SO GO SLOW HAVE YOUR FRIEND SIT ON THE FLOOR SAME LEVEL AS YOUR DOG GAINING TRUST ONE STEP AT A TIME I TRY TO AVOID DIRECT EYE CONTACT AT THIS POINT I JUST TALK TO THE DOG REASSURING HER EVERYTHING IS OK THEN THE SNACKS COME IN TO PLAY AND THE WALL OF DISTRUST WILL DISAPPEAR I CANT HELP BUT THINK DOGS ARE LIKE US IN A FEW WAYS AND THAT'S WHY WE LOVE THEM
