~~~~~ B E A U T Y ~~~~~
Beauty... is the shadow of God on the universe.
Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.
Beauty comes as much from the mind as from the eye.
The most beautiful view is the one I share with you.
When beauty fires the blood, how love exalts the mind!
Truth exists for the wise, beauty for the feeling heart.
Beauty is the lover's gift.
Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
Korea ‘Worst Country’ for Widows, Divorcees
Korea has been voted the most difficult country for widows and divorced women to live in the world. The ranking comes from poll conducted by World Public Opinion of 17,595 people from 17 countries between January and May this year about discrimination against such women.
In the poll, which was released by WPO to commemorate International Widows Day on Monday, 81 percent of respondents said there is at least some discrimination against widows in Korean society. Turkey and Palestine were a distant second and third with 70 and 61 percent respectively, and Nigeria and China were next with 58 and 54 percent. Even in India, which has a reputation for mistreatment of Hindu widows, only 35 to 42 percent of respondents answered that discrimination exists.
Korea was also named as the most discriminating country for divorced women. Some 82 percent of Koreans said divorced women are treated worse than others, outpacing Egypt’s 80 percent and Turkey’s 72 percent. Palestine and Iran had 53 and 51 percent respectively.
Discrim ination against widows and divorced women is a problem not only in Korean society. Twelve out of 17 countries had about 40 percent of respondents saying that widows and divorced women are treated worse than other women. Only in a couple of countries did a clear majority of respondents say there is no discrimination.
